My Second Mother's Day-2011
We had a pretty quiet Mother's Day this year, but it was still perfect. Kevin was able to meet us in WV Thursday night after his week-long training in PA ended. It was so nice to be able to spend the weekend with my daughter and my mother (and siblings and husband!).
We technically celebrated a day early by doing some shopping and eating out in Charleston on Saturday. We thought it was better to not fight the crowds since Kerriann can only handle so much.
On Mother's Day morning we attended church at St. Thomas in Gassaway and then enjoyed a delicious brunch that some of the husband's from the church prepared. This is a yearly tradition and I thought it was funny that I overheard the men "complaining" about how this is the busiest Sunday of the year, and even more people attend than for Easter and Christmas. Poor guys, having to cook ONE MEAL ;).
Then for dinner my mom baked a huge chicken and made a great home cooked meal for all of us. I felt bad that she was the one cooking, but she did a great job and I know we all really appreciated her effort. Maybe next year I will be experienced enough to attempt a dinner that fancy!
The only thing missing from the day was my mother in law, Katie. I really wish that we could have had her along with the rest of Kevin's family there to celebrate.
*All of the photos were taken by Kevin before dinner. For my Mother's Day gift all I wanted was a few shots with Kerriann. It is almost impossible these days to get her to pose with us for pictures. When we were sitting on the steps we were singing the theme song to her favorite show, "Max and Ruby" to try to get her to smile, but instead she was making all sorts of silly faces. It was so cute.

Beef's Backwoods Grill
While we were home we were able to meet up with some family members at one of our favorite restaurants, Beef's Backwoods Grille. The restaurant is owned and operated by family and close friends and we always try to stop while we are in town. The food is SO GOOD and the atmosphere is great for any occasion! Kerriann had a great time playing with the stuffed bears (she called them dogs) while the adults all enjoyed their dinners.
We were able to meet up with my dad, sister, brother and Aunt Sherrie and Uncle John. It was so great to see them, as well as Chris, Mike and Brandon who run the place! Thanks again for a delicious dinner guys, can't wait to see you all again!
If you are ever in Fairmont, WV and looking for a restaurant, be sure to check them out. For more information, visit their Facebook page by clicking here.

The Many Faces of KA
Whenever we visit my parents, I try to take advantage of being able to open the front door and actually step out into nature as much as possible. At our condo you have to take an elevator four floors down and then go through two heavy doors just to get outside. Then you have to walk a few blocks down to the park or trail. I love taking Kerriann outside, but sometimes all of that is just a huge hassle.
She didn't even really want to go into the yard on this particular evening, but she still had a great time. The most fun she had was as we were about to go inside, she started scooting around on her bottom. I was worried she was going to rip her pants, but she was laughing so hard and having so much fun. It was so cute!
May Flowers
I guess the old saying is true... April showers really do bring May flowers (although it is still quite rainy even though it's May).
The flowers around Bulle Rock are so beautiful right now, I wish I had more time to get outside and play with my camera!
While I was home last week I was excited to see that my mom's flowers were also in full bloom. On the days that Kerriann napped I was able to sneak outside and get a few photos of them.

Sometimes I wish spring never had to end!
Blogger Issues and KA Pics
Apparently there have been some issues going on with Blogger (the site I use to blog) the past day or two. Yesterday I had the time to actually get on and try to catch up from the last two weeks, but the site wasn't working! I was pretty annoyed, but now I am just relieved to see that I didn't lose any of my content. Apparently some people are missing posts that they made. I have never backed up any of my posts, and I would be so upset to lose any of them. I haven't really kept a baby book for Kerriann since I started this blog, so this is all I have!
Since I'm so behind, I'm probably just going to be posting a lot of pictures and not a lot of writing until I get caught up. With that said, here are some really cute ones of Kerriann that I've been meaning to share for a few weeks now. I used a few of them for gifts for the mothers in my life so I didn't want to show them to the world until after Mother's Day.
In the first few she was having fun playing with a little toy that has wheels on the bottom on my window. She was watching out the window for Kevin to come home from work.

And these were from the day that we had all of the tornado warnings. We had the windows open before the wind became too strong and we were both enjoying the breeze.

Modeling her new jacket
When I packed for our WV visit, I was expecting the weather to be a little more summer like. Most of our days were actually more like late winter. We made a quick trip to Charleston on Thursday to see Kaycee, and while we were running errands at Target, I spotted this cute jacket on clearance and couldn't pass it up.
Of course as soon as I bought it the weather took a turn for the pretty and decided to warm up, but oh well! I'm sure we will have enough chilly evenings over the next month to get our money's worth.

Meeting Baby Owen
On my way back to WV last weekend, I was able to stop in Morgantown and FINALLY meet baby Owen! He is just so cute, and I could tell that Autumn and Josh are doing a great job of being his parents already. They were naturals!
Holding Owen I felt like I had forgotten everything I had learned about newborns, which is a little scary for whenever #2 comes along! I am going to have to start at square one again!
Anyways, congratulations again Autumn and Josh! I can't wait to help spoil little Owen and watch him grow up.

Philly Zoo
I know it's been over a week now, but I'm just getting around to posting about our trip to the Philadelphia Zoo last Saturday. We met up with Kevin's friends Chris and Colin (twins!!!). We always have a great time with them, they're both hilarious!
This was my first time visiting the Philly Zoo, and we ended up buying a season pass. For the price it just didn't make sense not to buy one. So if any of our friends and family members would like to take a trip, we'd definitely be up for going again! Kerriann really loved it and it was a great excuse to be outside on a beautiful day.
The peacock was Kerriann's favorite and she wanted to chase it all over the zoo (it was just roaming around in the food court!)
